DEATH MATTERS
for Big Life Changes
CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND
UPDATE 2025 —Year of the Ssssnake
A huge and heartfelt THANKYOU to all who have been involved in the three Death Matters conferences; the presenters with their awesome depth of knowledge and willingness to share it with us, the workshop facilitators for getting us hands on and making the concepts useable, the volunteers who anchored the energy and made the events flow smoothly, and of course the attendees with their courage and curiosity for more openness, advocacy and empowerment on all matters death-related.
These conferences helped us:
-
Make conversations about death normal for everyone
-
Connect those of us working in death-related fields
-
Encourage curiosity and provoke new thinking
-
Dive deep into old taboos e.g. suicide, euthanasia, life after death
-
Get inspired, share resources, and become more creative
That said, I feel the conferences have served their purpose for now, and it’s time for something new. Building on their momentum, I am designing tools for education and engagement that reach more deeply into the community. I want to help people move beyond fear and limitation and savour the preciousness of life. These will be in the form of workshops, speaker events and training opportunities and will run throughout the year.
